Friends Of The Carrs grant cheque being awarded

Friends of the Carrs have been awarded a Wilmslow Town Council Community Grant of £357 to fund their annual insurance policy and meeting room hire.

A group of volunteers formed in 2015, Friends of the Carrs are committed to the maintenance and improvement of the Carrs park to the benefit of the local community.

The grant will fund the cost of the Friends of the Carrs’ insurance, which covers their voluntary activities in the park – including litter picking, control of invasive species and strimming – in addition to funding room hire in the Parish Hall for their ten meetings in the upcoming year.

Councillor Jon Newell, Chair of Wilmslow Town Council said, “The Carrs is one of the jewels of Wilmslow’s public domain as well as being the backdrop to one of Wilmslow Town Council’s biggest events of the year – Cinema on the Carrs.

“We are delighted to support Friends of the Carrs, who work hard to keep Wilmslow’s country park beautiful and enjoyable for all, and thank them for all that they do.“
