A Wilmslow Town Council grant of £3,780 has funded the installation of boulders at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.
Everybody Health and Leisure has installed sixteen boulders around the edge of the cricket pitch at Wilmslow Leisure Centre to prevent vehicles accessing the area, following pitch damage caused by previous instances of unauthorised access.
Wilmslow Town Council Chairman, Frank McCarthy, said, “Previous pitch damage has resulted in significant losses, so we are pleased to provide funding to help safeguard the cricket pitch from future harm.”
A spokesperson from Everybody Health and Leisure said, “We have been working closely with Wilmslow Town Council to access a grant to help reduce anti-social activity around the leisure centre and cricket pitch. We are pleased to see the funding has been agreed and would like to thank all those involved of this project.’
The cricket club chair added, “Wilmslow Cricket Club are delighted to have worked alongside Everybody Health and Leisure and Wilmslow Town Council, to access grant funding to better protect the integrity of the cricket ground and playing surface for all players and local users of the space. Thank you for your significant contribution towards making this happen.’
