Wilmslow’s Coronation Celebration a big success
The Wilmslow community came together in the sunshine on Sunday 7th May 2023 to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Wilmslow’s Coronation Celebration was very well attended, with road closures in place around Bank Square to allow more space for residents to relax and enjoy Wilmslow town centre.
The stage near Bank Square was hosted by Silk FM, with music and performances by three local singers / guitarists – Luke Carter, Jess Scragg and Catherine Taylor Dawson.
At Bank Square, Girlguiding and Wilmslow Youth offered various activities, including a Royal photo booth and crown-decorating craft. Wilmslow Round Table hosted a coconut shy and Scouts a giant marble run game. Children also enjoyed a Fun House soft play bus.
Tables and benches were placed down Hawthorn Lane for people to sit and socialise with family and friends.
Along Grove Street, there was free Crazy Golf, Punch and Judy shows, a magician and face painting.
A market of 14 local community group stalls lined a section of Grove Street, offering a variety of games and activities to help promote and raise funds for their cause. Taking part were: Hope Central, Wilmslow Community Show, The Green Room, The Guild for Lifelong Learning, Cycle Wilmslow, The Guild Players, Wilmslow Historical Society, The Animal Sanctuary, Transition Wilmslow, Wilmslow Community Market Gardens, Wilmslow and District Rotary, Blood Bikes, Citizens Advice, Friends of the Carrs.
Wilmslow’s Coronation Celebration was funded and organised by Wilmslow Town Council in partnership with Wilmslow’s BID, represented by Wilmslow’s Way Better.

It was so good to see Wilmslow extra busy!!! Apparently they do this in Altrincham on a regular basis.
